Reading a case
A case profile explains, in plain language, what was claimed, what the court decided at each stage, and where the case stands now. Where our summary and the judgment differ, the judgment governs.
- Case names and numbers follow the court's own styling where we could read it.
- Each decision is dated and linked to the judgment or a reliable report of it.
- Appeals are tracked as separate stages; an earlier ruling is not erased by a later one.
Sources we prefer
- Judgments and orders published by the court
- Court registers and cause lists
- Law reports
- Party filings where publicly available
