- Parties
- The State (NPA Investigating Directorate) v. Vincent Smith, Euroblitz 48 (Pty) Ltd and Angelo Agrizzi
Claims. Contravention of section 7 of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act, fraud, money laundering and Tax Act offences. The State alleged Smith accepted Bosasa-funded security upgrades (R200,000) to his home and payments routed through Euroblitz 48 in exchange for shielding Bosasa from parliamentary scrutiny, failed to declare them in the Register of Members' Interests, and that Euroblitz 48 failed to disclose about R28 million of taxable income between March 2009 and July 2018.
Decision. 5 March 2026: Judge Mohamed Ismail accepted a section 105A plea and sentence agreement; Smith pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 years on each count with part suspended for five years on conditions, so that he will effectively serve seven years' direct imprisonment (per NPA/SAnews and TimesLIVE). Charges against Euroblitz 48 were withdrawn.[1, 2, 3]
